Sunday, June 10 in the adult Sunday School hour a new ministry in the church will be introduced. It has been given the name Isaiah 58, because it is there we read of the Lord’s concern for the welfare of the hungry, the homeless, the poor, and the afflicted and his promise to bless his people when they share that concern. Each quarter we will now observe an Isaiah 58 Sunday. We will meet first in the sanctuary for a presentation and then move to DeSoto Hall for a ministry fair where a variety of Christian works, both from our own church and the community, will be present to explain their ministries and to recruit helpers. The purpose of all of this is to increase the measure of the engagement of everyone in the congregation with such work as the Lord commits his people to in Isaiah 58 and many other passages in Holy Scripture.
