As most will be aware, Rev. Steven Nicoletti has been warmly recommended to the congregation as the nominee for the position of Senior Pastor of Faith Presbyterian Church.
To prepare for the congregational meeting at which the vote will be taken, Pastor Nicoletti will officiate the services, morning and evening, on Sunday, October 7th and Sunday, October 14th. Pastor Nicoletti will further introduce himself and his philosophy of ministry to the congregation in several ways:
First, Elder Mike Pfefferle will interview Pastor Nicoletti during the Sunday School hour on Sunday, October 14th.
Second, Pastor Nicoletti has made himself available to the various ministries and small groups within the church and would welcome any other groups or individuals who wish to speak with him.
Third, three forums will be held at which the members of the church will be able to ask him questions. These forums will take place on Thursday evening, October 11 at 7:00pm, Tuesday evening, October 16 at 7:00pm, and Saturday morning, October 20 at 9:00am. Please plan to attend at least one of these forums. We want the congregation to have as much information as it needs to make a considered judgment.
The congregational meeting at which the congregation will vote on his call will immediately follow the evening service on October 21.
There is a provision in our Presbyterian Church in America’s Book of Church Order that requires a serving Assistant or Associate Pastor to receive an affirmative vote of 80% of the voting members present in order to succeed to the Senior Pastorate. The relevant paragraph can be found in Chapter 23, Paragraph 1. The PCA BCO can be accessed online at the following link: http://www.pcaac.org/resources/bco/
Should Mr. Nicoletti be elected, the Presbytery of the Pacific Northwest must approve the call. The next Presbytery is in late January 2019. Mr. Nicoletti could take up his new post after that time.
