Loving Those You Disagree with In a Pandemic

“We live in a time of cultural division, and it did not take long for us to fit this pandemic into the same mold. Tensions are running high. And the fact is that it is not us in here against them out there. The fact is that the lines of disagreement run through our congregation. But the Apostle John says to us that if we do not love our brothers and sisters in Christ, whom we see, then we cannot love God whom we have not seen: “whoever loves God must also love his brother.” And so tonight, I want us to begin to consider what it will look like for us to love those we disagree with in the midst of this pandemic – both how we will love one another within our congregation, and also how we will love those outside the church.”
